日本の豊かな自然を描いた図案ブランドdesign512は、ファブリックパネルやタペストリーなどのアートピース、壁紙・カーテン・クッションなど実用的なインテリア、ファッション・雑貨など様々なアイテムであなたの丁寧な生活に寄り添います。2026年秋、ロヴァニエミ市立図書館にて、日本国外で初の作品展示をします。書・陶芸・水引・テキスタイルの作家４名による日本の美意識をテーマとした様々な表現が揃います。

Design512 is a brand featuring designs inspired by Japan’s rich natural world. We offer a wide variety of items—from art pieces such as fabric panels and tapestries to practical interior goods like wallpaper, curtains, and cushions, as well as fashion and home accessories—to enhance your thoughtful lifestyle. This fall, in 2026, we will hold our first exhibition outside of Japan at the Rovaniemi City Library. We invite you to come and see the designs of design512.

An Encounter with Scandinavia, and a Career Shift from TV Station Engineer

日本でも有数の豪雪地である青森で、豊かな自然に囲まれて育ったSIZ kawamata（川又志津）は、祖母の影響で洋裁に親しみ、服や雑貨を作るなどテキスタイルがいつも身近にありました。国立大学で画像工学を学んだ後、テレビ局で映像エンジニアとして働きながら、美術大学で工芸工業デザインを学び始めます。同時期に訪れた北欧各国で、Svenskt Tenn、 ARABIA、marimekkoなど洗練されたデザインに触れ、その確固たる世界観に大きな刺激を受けました。「日本生まれの魅力的なテキスタイルを作りたい」と08年より図案作家と会社員のパラレルキャリアをスタート。23年にdesign512を図案ブランドとして本格始動させました。

SIZ Kawamata grew up in Aomori, one of Japan’s snowiest areas, surrounded by rich nature. Influenced by her grandmother, she developed a love for sewing, and textiles were always a part of her life. After studying Image Engineering at a national university, she began studying Crafts and Industrial Design at an art university while working as a video engineer at a television station. Around that time, she traveled to Nordic countries, where she encountered sophisticated designs from brands such as Svenskt Tenn, ARABIA, and marimekko, and was deeply inspired by their distinct aesthetic vision. “I want to create captivating textiles born in Japan,” she said, starting a parallel career as both a pattern designer and a company employee in 2008. In 2023, she officially launched design512 as a pattern brand.

Pattern Designs That Convey the Beauty, Rhythm, and Harmony of Nature

美術大学の卒業展で優秀賞に選ばれた図案【IDG】は、「植物を置きたくても置けない室内に、その代わりになるタペストリーを」というコンセプトで制作されました。インテリア以外にも、キッチンやファッション小物など様々な用途にフィットする人気の図案で、ウォーキングステッキの柄として採用された他、テレビドラマのインテリア演出としても使用されています

どの図案も日本の豊かな自然を題材に、美しい造形や風に揺れるリズム、多数のモチーフが集まるハーモニーを大きな面積で表現しています。長い冬が終わり春に小さく芽を出す河原の草花を描いた【KSA】、太陽の光を浴びてスクスクと育つ畑の野菜をモチーフに描いた【HTK】、四季の野鳥が集まる夢の木を描いた【TRI】など、スケールやトリミングにより異なる印象をお楽しみいただけます。ロヴァニエミ市立図書館の展示では、手提げトート、ポーチ等の雑貨類も展示予定です。

The design [IDG], which won the Excellence Award at an art university graduation exhibition, was created based on the concept of “a tapestry to replace plants in interiors where they cannot be placed.” This design is popular not only for interior decor but also for a variety of other uses, such as kitchenware and fashion accessories. It has been adopted as a pattern for walking sticks and has also been used in the set design of television dramas.

Each design covers a large area and draws inspiration from Japan’s rich natural world, expressing beautiful forms, the rhythmic sway of the breeze, and the harmony created by the gathering of numerous motifs.

[KSA] depicts wildflowers sprouting along riverbanks in spring; [HTK] depicts vibrant vegetables growing in fields under the sun; and [TRI] depicts a dream tree where wild birds gather throughout the seasons. You can enjoy how the scale and cropping create different impressions.

The exhibition at the Rovaniemi City Library will also feature a variety of accessories, such as tote bags and pouches.
